Can I get a Decadent wrap, extra cheese, hold the lettuce, please?"
Certainly. I think it was Whitney Houston (or maybe it was Randy Watson... I can't remember...) who famously said, "I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way" and I think we all got a glimpse of that this past weekend. In an effort to introduce everyone to new faces and new voices, we added over a dozen new acts to the bill this year, many led by individuals from Gen Z, forging their path, cutting their teeth, discovering their sound. And folks, they certainly came to play. They stood tall, played their hearts out and laid it all on the line, just like their Gen X and Millenial brothers and sisters. So maybe it's just four old guys being sentimental, but we couldn't be more proud to have them as part of Decadent history now.
And really, the entire weekend, front to back was STELLAR (and yes, we had to capitalize that). Seeing the interactions between four generations of fans and entertainers reinvigorated us and reassured us that even after all of the long hours we put into this event, from the planning to the execution, this labor of love is always well worth it.
As always, thank you to Brickhouse Pub & Grub and their staff for having us.
Thank you to the sound techs and engineers for their diligent work and prowess all weekend long.
And most importantly, to the performers and patrons of DC44, this festival would be nothing without you all. Nothing but love.
We'll see you at DC45 in 2026.
